William Robert Armitage

William Armitage, 83, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2024. Born in New York City, William spent time living in Staten Island, NY, South Plainfield, NJ, and Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 2004. After graduating from Tottenville High School in Staten Island, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 6 years. Following his Naval service, William became an electrician for IBEW, Local 3 in New York City. He was an active member of the South Plainfield Lions Club, Commissioner of Pop Warner in South Plainfield, a member of the Little Egg Harbor zoning committee, a member of the Pineland Commission for Little Egg Harbor, and a committeeman. He enjoyed collecting model trains and boating on his boat “High Voltage”. William was a family man and cherished his family vacations in the Outer Banks. He was also a parishioner and usher at St. Theresa’s Church.

William is predeceased by his parents Robert and Rita Armitage and sister Rita Jane.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Anne Armitage, daughters Irene Connelly and husband Thomas of Toms River, NJ, Colleen Courtney and husband Jeff of Jackson, NJ, and Deborah Ziroli and husband Michael of Manasquan, NJ, son William Armitage of Old Bridge, NJ, sister Maureen Nelson, brother Ronald Armitage, niece Meaghan Onofrey, grandchildren Ryan, Jillian, Amanda and husband Gregory, Kyle, Jake, Cole, Abigail, and Grace, and great-grandson Jack William.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and again on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 9:30-10:30 am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church 450 Radio Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Burial will follow at 1pm at St. Joseph Cemetery 62 Cedar Grove Road Toms River, NJ.
