Thomas J McDowell

Thomas J. McDowell III, 79 of New Gretna, NJ passed away at home on Saturday February 12, 2022.  Born in Jersey City, NJ he lived in Beachwood, NJ before moving to New Gretna 23 years ago.  Thomas worked as a Detective for the Ocean County Sheriffs Department and was an investigator for the Atlantic County Office of Public Defenders Juvenile Division.  He enjoyed gardening, golf and bird watching.  He was a life long NY Mets fan and an avid history and World War II buff. 

Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife Claire McDowell and granddaughter Mikeylah Infinity-Louise Shabazz.

He is survived by his loving daughter Amy McDowell, brothers Richard, Robert “Bobby” and Peter, sister Carol and nieces and nephews Melissa, TJ, Chris, Peter and Bobby.

A Burial of Ashes will be held on Saturday February 26^th, 2022 at 1pm in Miller Cemetery, New Gretna, NJ.
