Thomas J Doyle

Thomas James Doyle III, 90 of Toms River, NJ passed to his heavenly home on Tuesday August 8^th, 2023. Thomas was raised in Harrison, East Orange and North Bergen, New Jersey. He graduated Weehawken High school in 1951, and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in 1955 with a B.F.A. degree. Being a Yankees fan, he liked sports, especially baseball, playing in High School, at Pratt and in the U.S. Army. He also liked golf, his home and his family. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954 to 1962, and was on active duty from July 1956 to July 1958 – a rank of E-5. He worked as an artist, illustrator and art director at various art studios and advertising agencies in New York City, in Schenectady, NY and Washington, DC. He painted the last four portraits of “THE BRECK GIRL” for BRECK Shampoo magazine advertisements. One original portrait is in the Smithsonian Archives Center and the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC, using his own name, Thomas J. Doyle, III, and also painted Lynda Carter for her record album.

Thomas was predeceased by his father, Thomas Francis Doyle, Jr., and his mother, Rose Doyle Camfield.

He leaves behind three children, Robert, Laurie Ann and David Doyle, also a granddaughter, Lauren W. (Doyle) Todd, and a brother in Florida, John T. Doyle; plus cousins in NJ, Ohio, and Michigan, a nephew, Peter Schwarz in Florida, and a niece, Ethel May Murray, in NJ.

As an artist, he enjoyed the camaraderie with other artists, especially in the portrait drawing sessions at Pine Shores Art Association in Manahawkin, NJ.

Cremation will be private.
