Stephen J Szabatin

Stephen J. Szabatin, 84 of Palm Coast, FL and Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Tuesday July 6, 2021

Stephen was born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Stephen G. Szabatin and Mary V. (Demetski) Szabatin, both deceased. He also lived in Hillsborough Twp, NJ and North Cape May, NJ.

He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1958 with a B. S. Degree in Management.

He served in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged after serving 7 years of active and reserve duty.

Stephen started his career with the N.J. Department of Banking as an examiner and later became Deputy Commissioner, which is the title he held until his retirement in 1994. Stephen then joined the Board of Directors of Investors Bank, Short Hills, NJ until his retirement in December 2014.

He enjoyed a lifelong passion for fishing and watching the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

Stephen was a member of American Legion—Trenton Post #458 and Tuckerton Masonic Lodge #4.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Joan (Gregor) Szabatin, his daughter Debra Golle and her husband Robert and his grandson Justin. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Masterson and Arlene Biesiada. He is also survived by a niece, nephews, and grandnieces.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2021, from 3-7 pm and Wednesday July 14, 202 from 9-10 am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd. Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday July 14, 2021, at St. Mary of the Pines Church 100 Bishop Way Manahawkin, NJ 08050 followed by Entombment in Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton.
