Richard Carroll Leitz Sr.

Richard Carroll Leitz Sr., 86, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away on May 21, 2024. Born in Riverside, NJ, Richard spent most of his life in Little Egg Harbor until his 60’s, when he moved to the Bradenton/Palmetto area of Florida. He would live there until 2019, when he moved to Virginia. Richard spent about 4 years in Virginia with his son until his move back to Little Egg Harbor a little over a year ago. Richard was the owner of West Tuckerton Liquor Store and was a firefighter with the West Tuckerton Fire Company. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tuckerton.

Richard was predeceased by his wife of 10 years Christel, his first wife of 47 years and mother of his children Julia, and parents Richard and Doris Leitz. 

He is survived by his son Rick Leitz of Chesterfield, VA, daughter Julie Shutz and husband George of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, grandchildren Jesse Fromosky (Ashley), Anthony Hughes, Shae Weyant (Richard) and Victoria Leitz, and great grandchildren Lacey Weyant and Lincoln Weyant. 

Cremation will be private. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 15, 2024 at 10am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor NJ. A Luncheon will follow at the West Tuckerton Firehouse.
