Paul John Nebenfuhr, 67, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Friday February 15, 2019. Born in Newark, NJ Paul spent time living in Seaside Heights, NJ and Manahawkin, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 2010. Paul attended Kean University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Education and went on to a career as a Social Worker and Counselor in many different venues, including DYFS and Preferred Behavioral Health. His last position before retiring was for Veterans Haven in Winslow, NJ. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Pines Church in Manahawkin, was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and active in the Living Waters Prayer Group. He was in formation to become a Third-Order Secular Franciscan. Paul was an associate member of Great Bay Regional Volunteer EMS in Little Egg, and was sober in Alcoholics Anonymous for 30 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, rooting for the Mets and the Giants, and played both fantasy football and fantasy baseball, where his moniker was ""Paulie All-Nuts"". He also wrote for a few sports blogs on the internet. He enjoyed playing the piano and the accordion, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Frank and Elsie Nebenfuhr and brothers Mark and John Nebenfuhr.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandra of 18 years, siblings Peter Nebenfuhr and wife Dodie of Ocean Pines, MD, Richard Nebenfuhr of Merritt Island, FL, Susan Blackledge and husband Rob of Malabar, FL, Laura Curtin and husband Robert of Mount Hermon, KY, and Lisa Carter and husband Jim of Lynchburg, VA, nieces Barbara and husband John Hoffer, Vanessa and husband Brennan Delaney, Jillian and husband Eric Marcussen, Laura Keeney, Lara Ramundo, Emily Nebenfuhr, Caily Nebenfuhr, and nephews Jason Keeney and wife Shannon, and Matthew Ramundo.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 22, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Saturday February 23, 2019 from 9:15-10:15am at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Rd, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Mass will be held on Saturday February 23, 2019 at 11am at St. Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Cremation will be private and interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
