Paul J. Carmel Jr. 79 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Saturday February 29, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Atlantic City. He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea and Atlantic City High School. He was employed by Canada Dry in Atlantic City for many years. He enjoyed many years coaching for the Linwood-Somers Point/ Linwood Panthers. He spent time living in Linwood and Absecon, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 1990. He was a Communicant of St. Theresa’s R.C. Church in Little Egg Harbor. He loved fishing, crabbing, clamming, boating and spending time on the water with his family and friends. He was proclaimed “Mayor” by his neighbors, serving proudly since 2002.
He is predeceased by his parents Paul Sr. and Alice (Clark) and step-mother Ann (Neugebauer); daughter Catherine DeLeuuw; sisters Margaret Crosthwait, and Judith Ann Carmel; step-brother Bill Hauser; brother-in-laws Bob Crosthwait, Bill Bryant, Bob Parker and Buzzy Branca; great-granddaughter Jasmine Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna May of 21 years; children Patti A. Carmel of Philadelphia, PA, Paul J. Carmel III of Philadelphia, PA, Steven Guld (Karen) of Fort Meyers, FL, Patti Iannuzzi (John) of Washington Twp., Jeffrey Guld (Shirley) of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Vicky Guld of Absecon, NJ, Dawn Heil (Chuck) of Washington Twp., NJ, Laurie Grinnan (Tom) of Brunswick, ME, Michael Megna (Jackie) of Flanders, NJ, Christopher Megna (Connie) of Andover, NJ and Marc Megna (Bernadette) of Cedar Knolls, NJ; siblings Alice Bryant of Portsmouth, RI, Louan Falzetta (Fiore) of Absecon, NJ, JoAnn Parker of Pleasantville, NJ and Karen Carmel of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren Rickina, Jessica, Serena, Nicole, Nicholas, Taylor, Logan, Erik, Tommy, Samantha, Alexa, Nikolas, Gianna, Christopher, Dominic, Jada, Antonia, Anthony and Joey; great-grandchildren Sylina, Michael, Diamond, Devin, Owen, Rhys, Raelyn and Natascia; great-great-granddaughter Delilah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020 from 11am until his Funeral Service at 2 pm at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.
