Nunes M. Bukula, 73 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Monday August 8, 2016. He was born August 15, 1942 and lived in Angola, Africa where he served as the commander for the National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA). During this time he led a war against the Portuguese army to help the oppressed people of Angola. He was then granted political asylum and brought his family to the United States on May 7, 1985. He was a strong leader and patriarch who was loved by everyone he knew.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Bibiana Bukula in 2002 and daughter Maria Alelluya Bukula. He is survived by his children Mvemba Bukula, Nunes Bukula III, Ntumba (Maria) Bukula, Victor Bukula, Nkuanda Bukula, David Bukula, Ronald Trott-Bukula, Samuel Bukula, Bibiana Lambo Bukula and Louise Defeza Bukula; grandchildren Angelique Clark, Reginald ""RJ"" Clark Jr., Nunes ""NuNu"" Bukula IV, Kaye'Bukula, Khalif Bukula, Nkuanda Bukula, Amanda Bukula, J'Nea Trott and Samuel Bukula Jr. as well as many other children, grandchildren and loved ones in Africa. He is also survived by his lifelong family friends John and Diana Bergmann and the Sozinho Family.
Viewing hours will be held on Friday August 12, 2016 from 1 to 3pm and 5 to 7pm and Saturday August 13 from 9am until the Funeral Service at 10:00am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.
