Marvin Lee Glover, 84, passed away on September 19, 2024, following a brief illness. Born in Passaic, N.J., he was the eldest of three children of Arthur and Lurline (Ross) Glover, both of whom preceded him in death. Marvin is survived by his sister, Melissa (Glover) Whitmire, and the memory of his late brother, Kenneth Alan, who passed away in 1994.

Marvin attended Passaic High School after graduation he attended Johnson C. Smith College and earned his master’s degree from Columbia University. In 1967, he married Marsha Story, and they welcomed their only son, David Glover. The family spent several years in New York, where Marvin worked as a social worker at the Abbott House, Cabrini House, and the NYC Probation Department.

After relocating multiple times, Marvin found his home in Asheville, NC, where he enjoyed his passion for horses. Eventually, he moved to Little Egg Harbor, NJ, to be closer to family during his final days.

Marvin was a beloved uncle to Charles Brown III, Kenisha, Keniha, Shannon, Brandon Glover, and Jaden Brown, as well as a grand uncle to Mildred (Milly) Glover, Chase Ellis, Lani Glover, Brennan Perry, Ziàr, and Keylahni Glover. He was also a proud grandfather to Jordan & Jazmin Glover and a brother-in-law to Dennis Whitmire.

A member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and raised in the Baptist faith, Marvin attended various non-denominational churches throughout his life. He leaves behind a network of friends and cherished relationships with best friends Kenny and Mark.

In accordance with his wishes, Marvin will be cremated. A private dinner will be held in Mays Landing and Rutherford, N.J. to celebrate his life following his upcoming birthday
