Lynn C. Getchell

Lynn C. Getchell, age 76, of Manahawkin passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, Lynn has been resident of Manahawkin the last 50 years. She received her teaching degree from Seton Hall University and her masters degree from Rutgers University. She taught for 36 years in the Woodbridge Township public school system where she also served as an active member and past Vice President of the Woodbridge Township Teacher's Association. She was currently a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.
Lynn is predeceased by her parents Herbert and Gladys Price Getchell.
She is survived by her partner in life of 40 years, Joanne Jacoby, her sister and brother-in-law Gail and Robert Martin, her niece Dawn Marie Acocella and her husband David, her nephew Robert R. Martin, her great-niece Dana, her great-nephews David and Daniel as well as her extended family William Anner, Christopher Anner, Maryanne Anner and their children Daniel, Michael and Marcie Lynn.
In addition to the many colleagues and students whose lives she touched, Lynn leaves behind many friends who she cherished and treated as extended family. Lynn's ""girls"" Bella and Mia brought her smiles and warmed her heart as much as her love of the sea and her boat ""Tranquility IV"". Her love of life infected everyone around her. Her kindness, wit, and laughter engraved wonderful memories on the hearts of all who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 10am to until her funeral service at 1pm from Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin, NJ.
