John ""Jack"" Cruse, age 80, of Manahawkin died on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Virtua-West Jersey Hospital, Voorhees. Born in Philadelphia, he lived there until moving to Long Beach Island in 1969. In 1974, he settled in Manahawkin.
An Army Veteran, Mr. Cruse was originally a tool and die maker and worked as a carpenter after moving to New Jersey. He later worked as a security guard at both Caesar's and The Sands Casinos, Atlantic City, and most recently worked as a groundskeeper at the Ocean Acres Country Club, Manahawkin.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris, in 2012. Surviving are his sons, John and his wife Catherine of Egg Harbor Township, and Steve and his wife Lynn of Manahawkin; a brother, Robert Cruse of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Jonathon and Matthew.
Cremation was private under the direction of Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin. Interment of both Doris and Jack's cremated remains will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2014, 11am at Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA.
