Janice C. Mulholland passed away on December 30, 2022 in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
Janice was born on January 13, 1937 in Montague, Massachusetts. Janice grew up in Orange, Massachusetts with her mother Edith, and her siblings Gordon and Sally. After graduating from Orange High School, Janice moved to Boston where she met her husband, John, on a blind date. Jan always said that she returned to her apartment the night of their first date where she announced to her roommates that John was “ the one.” They were married for 65 years.
Jan and John moved to New Jersey, where they raised their three children in Chatham. During their time in Chatham, Jan was active in her community as a Girl Scout leader. Jan returned to her love of retail by working at local businesses, most notably as the manager of two local wine shoppes. It was then that Jan developed her love of a good wine, often attending local wine tastings and choosing just the right wine for dinner. Jan ended her career in retail at Bloomingdale’s of Short Hills, where Jan worked in administration.
After Jan retired from Bloomingdale’s, Jan and John moved to Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Jan was able to enjoy her love of the water, often taking her boat LambChop out for a spin. Jan also became a member of the local Coast Guard Auxillary and enjoyed patrolling the local waters. Jan, or Nana as she was called by her grandchildren, enjoyed time with her grandchildren crabbing off their dock, and watching the beautiful sunsets from their backyard. Jan loved when the family would gather around the fire pit, often enjoying a glass (or two) of wine.
Jan loved her yard, spending her weekends gardening. Often, passerby’s would stop to compliment Jan on her gardening. She also enjoyed decorating her home for holidays and birthdays. She had decorations for every occasion, and loved to show them off.
Jan and John were big supporters of women’s basketball. They had court side season tickets to Rutgers women’s basketball, and traveled the country for the Final Four Women’s NCAA tournaments.
Jan is predeceased by her mother, Edith Drury Walker, and her brother Gordon Walker; her in laws F.
