Howard Alton Wolny Jr., 75, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Born in Rahway, NJ, he lived in Brick, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor 5 years ago. However, he most enjoyed time at his home in Placita, CO.
Howard received his bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College and his master’s degree from Monmouth University. He was a middle school social studies teacher in Howell, NJ for 40 years and during summers he trained for marathons and worked as a first mate on a charter fishing boat. In retirement, Howard enjoyed fishing the Crystal River, skiing the white powder slopes in Colorado, model railroading, and rooting for the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia E-A-G-L-E-S. His favorite activities were globetrotting with Diane, cross-country treks with his pups, Umlaut and Ziggy, and attending the festivities that are Jimmy Buffett concerts. No matter where Howard was or what he was doing he was always quick to offer his friends a beer and a conversation filled with humor.
Howard was predeceased by his parents, Al and Dorothy Wolny, and his first wife, Suzanne Wolny.
He is survived by his beloved wife Diane Wolny, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Aaron Shurtleff, of Ridgely, MD, son Matthew Wolny of Ridgely, MD, and step-daughters Hilary and Abigail Shapiro of Freehold, NJ.
