Guido George Karcher of Little Egg Harbor passed away at Southern Ocean Medical Center on April 24 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. Predeceased by his parents Guido and Johanna Karcher, sister Joan Karcher and daughters Catherine Karcher and Carol Rosenhaus. He is survived by his wife Patricia Karcher, daughter Maureen Wagers, son Richard Karcher, daughter in-law Elisabeta Karcher, grandsons Richard Karcher Jr. and Alec Karcher, sister Agnes Haag, and neice Kerry Ennis.

George served in the Marine Corps. 1955 – 1956 with boots on ground in Japan and South Korea. He returned to the US and utilized the GI bill to earn degrees from Pratt Institute and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical Engineering. He met Pat Ennis in Glendale NY, asked for her # to which she responded “it’s in the book” and the rest is history, they were married on April 8th 1961.

George went on to work for Esso/Exxon for over 30 years which included global relocations for him and his family to Holland, England, North Africa, California, Texas, and many other countries and places visited along the way (too many to name) with a home base in Montville NJ. He was an expert in his field and a pillar in the PVMA (Pressure Vessel Metal Association) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) organizations. He was a teacher and mentor to many in his field.

George loved fishing and taking his kids water skiing as a bribe to come fishing with him. He loved his boat Blue Fish and living on the water in Little Egg Harbor where he and Pat retired. He was a Willy Nelson and Johnny Cash fan, with his favorite song and saying being “On The Road Again”.

My father Guido George Karcher passed away Wednesday evening. He had sustained injuries from a recent fall and continued to decline. He was comfortable, pain free, and surrounded by family. The family will be holding two repasts, details below with a private family burial on Monday.

Saturday May 4th, 2024 from 12:00 – 3:00pm at The Archer Hotel (AKB Bar) 130 Park Ave, Florham Park, NJ 07932 Food and drinks will be served.
