Fred L. Caputi, 71, of Astoria (Queens), NY, passed away on March 27, 2025, in the company of immediate family members, after a long battle with COPD. He was born and lived in New York City for most of his life, graduating from All Hallows High School in Bronx, NY, and later from Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ.
He worked as an Illustrator and Corporate Graphics Designer, and for over 40 years, did Freelance work in the New York City area for many of the largest Fortune-Rated Companies in the world. He designed, illustrated and branded logos and theme graphics for premier movie, music, and product media, representing hundreds of professionals and companies over that time period.
In his spare time, he enjoyed music (especially the Blues and Jazz) and would often play bass for the “Bone Dog Blues Band” at various New York area sites. For many years Fred cherished the many family gatherings that he attended and was often the life of the party. His artistic and creative gestures, along with his beloved comedic nature, fostered priceless family sentiment. His favorite quote was “The world is full of magic things patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”.
He is survived by his cousins John Vanadia (Debbie) of Manchester, NJ, and Kathy Stupp (Bruce) of Pomona, NY, first cousins-once removed Godson Brian, Sean Vanadia, and Sean’s partner-in-life Cait Currey of Manchester, NJ, brother Patrick Caputi (Nancy), niece Amanda Caputi, nephew Christopher Caputi, niece Courtney Paul (John), grandnieces Faith Paul and Josie Paul of Shrub Oak, NY, step-father Richard Meyer of Whiting, NJ, special friends Majda and Danny Begonja of Astoria, NY, and a number of other good friends. He was predeceased by his mother Lillian “Lee” Caputi Meyer and his father Frederick Caputi, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 1st, 2025 from 10am until his Funeral Service at 1:45pm at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd. Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton, NJ.
