Elmer P. """Mutt""" Mathis

Elmer Mathis, age 74, of Little Egg Harbor died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center Pomona, NJ. Elmer was born February 10, 1941 in Tuckerton, NJ and is a lifetime area resident. He is the son of the late Elmer P and Christine (Weisman) Mathis. He was predeceased by his wife, Therese ""Terry"" Mathis in 2004.
Elmer was employed by Viking Yacht in New Gretna as a Boatsman. He served in the US Navy and was a Volunteer Fireman for the Tuckerton Fire Department for over 50 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and checking gas prices.
He is survived by his sons Jimmy, Ronald, Joseph and Kyle Mathis, daughters Terryann Schappert and Heidi Mathis, sister Mary Lou Mathis grandchildren Jimmy, Kathy, Mackenzie, Brianna, Jacob, Ryan, Jayden, Cataleya, Ashton, Bella, and Rebecca as well as many great grandchildren .
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 27 from 6:00-9:00pm at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A memorial service will be held at 8:45 pm.
