Dr. Robert “Doc” Wighton, 81 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Monday February 17, 2025. Robert was born in New York, NY, and grew up in Morris Plains, NJ. His childhood was spent playing football, baseball and building mock spacecraft in his backyard with his brother. He eventually lived in St. Thomas, PA, on his beloved farm where he enjoyed growing fruit and raising horses, before moving to Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 2014. Robert graduated from Ursinus College where he was a star baseball player. He earned a PhD in Physiology from Jefferson, his DDS from Temple, and did his residency in Periodontics at Boston University. Robert worked as a Periodontist and Oral Surgeon with three practices in Philadelphia, Chambersburg and Quakertown, PA. After retiring, Robert moved closer to the Jersey shore to enjoy his great love of boating and fishing and experimenting with culinary creations. He later embraced life at the Terraces Assisted Living community where he proudly served as President of the Residents Council. He was a member of the Garden Club, exercised every day and never turned down a game of pool. Throughout his life he was an avid fan of aviation, earning his pilot's license early on, and was a dedicated follower of The Navy’s Blue Angels.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Robert and Edith Wighton.
He is survived by his children Dawn Wighton and husband Gary Mulford of New Gretna, NJ, Heather Mass and husband Ed of Flemington, NJ, and Justin Wighton of Tuckerton, NJ, brother Harold Wighton and partner Marie of Bloomer, WI, and grandchildren Gracie, Tiegan, Jaxon and Braylin.

Cremation will be private and is under the care of Maxwell Funeral Home.
