Dorothy J. Mercurio

Dorothy Jean Mercurio, 61 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away at home on Tuesday April 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and lived in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Little Egg Harbor over 30 years ago. She worked as a teacher at Pinelands Regional Junior High School. Here she founded and served as lead facilitator of Pinelands Junior High Builders Club which performed various community service activities throughout the school year, most notably the students served as hosts for the Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour as an annual event. Dorothy was a member of the NJ Education Association (NJEA), the National Education Association and the Pinelands Educational Association. She was also active in her Sea Oaks Community and was on the Sea Oaks Bocce Team.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years Steven Mercurio Sr., loving children, son Steven Mercurio Jr. and daughter Danielle Mercurio, sister Angela Iacono, daughter-in-law Rebecca Mercurio, granddaughters Madelyn and Carleigh Mercurio and sister-in-law Kimarie Rustine.
Viewing Hours will be held on Friday April 24, 2015 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm and Saturday April 25, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 11:00am at St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
