Christine J Bobinski

Christine Jane Bobinski (née Grant) was born on April 12, 1951, in Atlantic City, NJ to Walter R. Grant, JR. and Stella I. Grant. She lived her formative years in Pleasantville, NJ and graduated Pleasantville High School in 1969.

She studied first at Southern Seminary Junior College in Virgina and, after moving to New York City, continued her education at the Tobé Coburn School of Fashion. The latter studies led her to a long and accomplished career in the retail and wholesale jewelry industry, counting virtually every major retailer in the United States and Canada among her business partners, most notably the May Merchandising Company.

She met her first husband, Michael P. Finlay, while working and living in New York City. They married in 1975 and went on to have two children, John Finlay and Sarah (Finlay) Tutjer, living in Nyack, NY until after her divorce in 1992.

Christine would remarry again in 2007 to Robert F. Bobinski, first residing in Absecon and later relocating to the Sea Oaks community in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. During this time, she was active in her church community as a vestry member and Junior Warden at Church of the Holy Spirit in Tuckerton, NJ, being recognized by the Episcopal Church Women’s Organization as their Woman of Honor in 2023 for her devoted service and leadership. She enjoyed the close friendship of her extensive group of friends in Sea Oaks, hosting and planning small dinner parties and large banquets alike. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, gardening, and patronizing those same retail establishments with whom she had conducted business for years. She also researched genealogy extensively, leading to a realization of Mayflower descension. She shared this love for heritage and tradition with her family, and her most cherished moments were those spent with beloved grandchildren who reside in Dallas, TX, Morristown, NJ, Canton, MI and Elizabeth City, NC.

She contracted Myelodysplasia Syndrome in 2013 and was treated at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Thanks to a bone marrow transplant, the cancer went into remission for ten years but reappeared in late 2023, ultimately taking her on November 16, 2024, peacefully and surrounded by her family.

Christine is survived by her loving husband, Bob, her son, John Finlay and wife Angela, their children Katelyn, Ian, and Andrew, her daughter Sarah Tutjer and her husband Bryce, their children Ellie and Maya, her brother W. Bruce Grant and her step-daughters Melissa Stendardo and Barbara Volpe and their families.
