Charlotte Spragg Weiler, 82, of Sweetwater, entered the presence of Jesus on May 1, 2021, two days short of her 83rd birthday, having been lovingly cared for in her home. She was born May 3, 1938, in Tuckerton, where she resided until her family moved to Egg Harbor City in 1951. Charlotte was an Egg Harbor High School graduate, Class of 1955, and attended Douglass College with a major in Home Economics. In 1956, she married Robert B. Weiler at Emmanuel Church, Egg Harbor, where the two were members for many years and served in multiple ways.
Charlotte’s life was one of love and service, the fruit of a life redeemed by Jesus Christ. Her love for her parents and parents-in-law was evident in the many years she cared for them as they grew older. She was a loving and faithful wife and mother. Her brother and cousins, nieces and nephews held extra-special places in her heart. She graciously set extra places around her table for guests, enjoyed the friendship of neighbors, wrote countless letters to distant relatives and home-bound friends, and was a faithful prayer warrior. Many children were blessed by her Bible club ministry, her leadership at Emmanuel Church’s VBS, her teaching in Sunday School — even her tender care of the youngest in the nursery. Charlotte was known for putting the needs of others before her own, and was eager to make Christ known.
Charlotte was preceded in death by Bob, her beloved husband of 62 years, and her parents, Charles L. and Elizabeth (“Betty”) Kyte Spragg. She is survived by her dear brother Edwin L. Spragg (Jean) of PA; her daughters: Cathy Couchoud (Chuck) of Galloway; Carol Sullivan (Dan) of WI; Robin Coleman (Tom) of Sweetwater; Paula Holen (Brad) of ND; Rachel Mackey (Timothy) of FL; and Susanna Yogerst (Tim) of WI; 34 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
In Charlotte’s honor a viewing will be held on Wednesday May, 5, 2021 from 9am to 11am at Maxwell Funeral Home,160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087, followed by a graveside service and interment at Greenwood Cemetery, N. Green Street, Tuckerton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Gideons International (https://www.gideons.org/).
