Kalman Fred Sule


Sule, Kalman Fred, age 82, passed away inDeland,Florida, Thursday, August 11, 2011, with his family at his side.  Fred, had his home in Deland and lived  part time with his daughter Nadeen, her husband Adam and their family inNorth Carolina. 

Fred was born inManville,N.J.to Coleman and Lillian Sule on August 26, 1928. He worked in his family’s business and after high school, Fred joined the Air Force and served his country inOkinawaduring WWII.  After his discharge in 1949, he returned home, where he met his first love Gloria Marie Tooker , they married in 1950 ,  moved  to Tuckerton and started their family .  Fred spent most of his working career with the Ocean County Sheriffs Department inTomsRiver.  He began as a Deputy, was promoted to Detective Lieutenant and went on to become the Undersheriff . Fred retired after 27 years with the O.C Sheriffs Department and moved toFlorida.   He graduated fromO.C.Community Collegeand went on toRutgersUniversitywhere he received his B.S. in Law Enforcement.  He also attendedRiderCollegefor his Masters Degree in Business Administration. He dedicated his life to serve his family, his country and his community and was honored many times for his accomplishments.  Fred was a Volunteer Fireman, Police Commissioner of Tuckerton, held office as a Republican on the Town Council, a Boy Scout Master, Chairman of the Tuckerton Memorial Day Parade, a member of the Knights of Columbus and an Extraordinary Minister in St Theresa’s Catholic Church.    He loved to travel, and family vacations meant packing up his family for another adventurous road trip around the country.  After retirement, he continued his traveling and spent time inCaliforniaandNevada. When he was not out working in his yard, he enjoyed playing Bingo, penny slots, puzzles, and buffets!  Fred’s first love Gloria, passed away in 1984.  Fred is survived by his daughters Nadeen (Adam) Garthaus, Coleen (Ted) Renz, Maureen(Ed) Heilman, and  son Fred,  his sister Lillian (Phil)Saitta, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  He was preceeded in death by his second wife Shirley Lippincott in 2008 and grandson Christopher Sule.

There will be a Memorial Mass on September 24, 2011 at 11am at St. Theresa’s Church followed by  burial of his ashes at Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton.  For more information or to send condolences please go to www.maxwellfuneralhome.com
