John James Roy


John James (Jim) Roy of Mayetta passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the age of 87.  Born January 12, 1924 in Barnegat to the late Alphonse and Mary D. Roy, Mr. Roy was a 1942 graduate of Barnegat High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force during World War II.  Following his service, Mr. Roy was employed as a carpenter with Local Union 1489 of Burlington County until retirement in 1987.  Mr. Roy was a life member of Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and the Barnegat American Legion.  He was also Past Master of Mariners of the Free and Accepted Masons #150.

 Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joyce L. Roy of Mayetta, his son, John J. Roy, Jr. and daughter-in-law Patricia of Mayetta; two granddaughters, Laura Dillinger and husband William of Little Egg Harbor and Amanda Lange and husband William of Mayetta and three great-grandchildren, Garrett Lange of Mayetta, Amy Grace and Erin Kate Dillinger of Little Egg Harbor.  Jim was a friend to many and will be remembered for his quick wit and kind heart.

 Funeral service will be held on Wed., December 21st at 11am at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ.  Viewing will be held on Tues, December 20th from 7-9pm and Wed. from 10-11am at the funeral home.  Burial will be Wed. following services, Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Run, NJ.
