Anthony Vallis


Anthony (Tony) Vallis, 91 ofLitchfield,CT, formerly ofBarnegat,NJ, passed away October 18, 2011 at Masonic Care,Wallingford,CT. He was born April 15, 1920, inFairview,NJ to Mary and Salvatore Vallis.  Tony was a long time resident of bothFairview andBergenfield,NJ before retiring toBarnegat,NJ.

Tony was a proud WWII Veteran. He served our country in the army as a Sergeant of the “Alamo” unit. He was wounded on Veterans Day, at which time he was awarded the Purple Heart. He ended his career with the United States Postal Service.

He  was predeceased by the  “love of his life”, his wife of 55 years, Angelina DeMauro Vallis. He is also  predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Dominick, Danny and Joey, and sisters, Carmela Montalbano and Filomena London.

He  is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Weber and her husband, Robert, of New Preston, CT, his devoted grandsons, Jeremiah Weber of Trenton, NJ and Jonathan Weber and his wife Nona of Honolulu, HI, and his brother Rudolf of Dumont, NJ.

Tony was extremely devoted to his family. He loved children, all of his nieces and nephews played with their “Uncle Tony”.  His grandsons, Jeremiah and Jonathan were truly the joy of his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 24, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church,Barnegat,NJ, followed by Entombment at St. Mary’s Cemetery,Manahawkin,NJ. Viewing hours will be on Sunday from 2-6pm and Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 at Maxwell Funeral Home 573 Mill Creek Rd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
